GATHERING FOR LIFE ON EARTH POLICY ON MINORS

For the purposes of this document, a minor is a person under the age of 19. These policies ensure the safety of our members and meet our contractual obligations with Evans Lake and our legal requirements. If you are an adult responsible for a minor at the Gathering, please read the following carefully as you will be expected to understand the guidelines for children at our event.

  1. On Friday night, there will be a short Parent Orientation after opening ceremonies. Attendance is required of at least one adult for each child. They will be submitting permission forms and allergy information, being introduced to the childcare providers and will be given their work shift schedule in the childcare area.
  2. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by one of their responsible adults whenever they are not in a supervised childcare area.
  3. Minors who are 8 and older may be unaccompanied in the large clearing in the centre of the site. The boundaries for this area are the beginning of the tenting area toward the lake, the parking lot, the woods and the cabins.
  4. One of their responsible adults must accompany minors under 12 when near the lake, docks or beach. The lifeguards on duty cannot serve in this capacity.
  5. Minors under 19 are restricted from the Grotto area at all times. This is an adult area.
  6. The Temple and the Lair are restricted areas. Minors may only enter for a short viewing during the day and in the company of one of their responsible adults. Parental discretion and previewing is strongly recommended, as both areas deal with mature and explicit subject matter.
  7. From dusk to dawn, all minors are restricted from any and all wooded areas. Any minor not in a supervised area must be accompanied by an adult during these times. Remember, this is a wilderness camp and the woods can be unsafe.
  8. If Security finds a minor in a restricted area, they will bring them back to either the supervised area or to one of their responsible adults. Such incidents will be reported to the Childcare Coordinator and the Security Coordinator.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Anyone breaking any of the above, and/or acting inappropriately or in such a manner as to affect the safety or enjoyment of the camp by others will, at the discretion of the camp organizers, be asked to leave the premises and will not be granted a refund of any fees.
